Sometimes
I see a baby asleep
rosebud lips parted
fat cheek squashed
plump limbs akimbo
a hint of a smile
playing on an angelic face
and my eyes grow moist
Sometimes
I see an exquisite rose
petals unfurled
in perfect symmetry
a deep red as though
dipped in blood
and tears well up
But sometimes
while doing nothing at all
an unnamed emotion
squeezes my heart
and I cry
Not all tears need a season
Sometimes they flow
for no reason at all
