Plagued by 
your thoughts
shackled by 
my need 
for your attention 
I waited for you 
to release me

But you didn't 
have the keys
I was in a prison
of my own making
The walls
my unrequited love
The chains 
my unattainable desire

Desperate 
to escape 
I shut my ears 
to the pleas
of my heart
I let my mind 
wield the axe of logic 
to break 
the restraints
and walk free
